Biography
Emil Johnsen is a Scandinavian actor, known for his starring performances in the Award winning Feature Films ”All The Beauty” ”Guidance” and ”Corridor”.
He is also known for his TV work in several Norwegian and Swedish TV series, such as the Netflix-hit ”Occupied”. He has starred in more than 30 films and TV series, both in Norway and Sweden. He has also starred in the Hollywood indie thriller ”The Ice Cream Truck”, for which he earned great reviews for his portrayel of the mass murderer in The Hollywood Reporter.
With an English mother, a Norwegian father, and five elder siblings, Emil grew up in Botswana, Africa. Coming back to Norway as a teenager, he started to pursue his acting career, and later moved to New York City to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. New York became Emil´s second home for many years to follow, but he continued his acting studies at the prestigious Swedish State Academy of Theatre. After finishing his studies he worked for several years in Stockholm in film and theatre, and he made his debut at the Royal Dramatic Theatre as the young Prince Johan in Strindberg´s “Gustav Vasa”. But it was the lead part of “Morgan”, in the Swedish Television Drama of the classic “A Stuffed Dog”, which earned him greater recognition, and led to lead parts in movies such as “Guidance” and “Corridor”. For his parts in these two movies, he was nominated Rising Star at the Stockholm Int. Film Festival and he won the Jean Carmet Award in France. Due to his background, he is fluent in Swedish, Norwegian and English (both with a British and an American accent).
