Jacob Skyggebjerg made his debut in the Berlinale-nominated feature Danmark in 2018, playing the lead’s humorous best friend Myre, a trashtalking but lovable young man with a nihilistic view on life. From there, Skyggebjerg starred in various shorts and features, predominantly of the more experimental kind – such as Søren Peter Langkjær Bojsen’s science fiction masterpiece A report on the party and the guests from 2020.
A breakthrough came with the lead role in the highly acclaimed feature The Idiot in 2023, for which Skyggebjerg received undivided praise in all Danish media. A fully improvised account, this heartbreaking yet amusing film shows Skyggebjerg’s natural feel for realistic acting and quirky characters – and the broadening of these.
